Only 1 way?

Q: Is Jesus really the only way?

A: Consider what Jesus Himself said about that:

  1. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”  (John 14:6)
  2. Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”  (John 6:35)
  3. Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  (John 8:12)

This is the same message taught by the apostles in the early church:  “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”  (Acts 4:12)  Paul wrote “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5)”.

There are not many ways to God.  There are not many paths to heaven.  Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”  (Matthew 7:13-14)

God has indeed made a way of salvation.  Why do men and women keep trying to invent their own (false) ways, when the true way has been made plain?

Just two verses after the most famous verse in the Bible, we find:  “He who believes in Him [Jesus] is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”  (John 3:18)

And if that isn’t clear enough, at the end of John 3, it says “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”  (John 3:36)

You can invent your own way, your own path, your own road, but it won’t lead to heaven.  How much better to take the path God has made!  Believe in Christ – trust Him – have faith in Him – for He is the only way of salvation.  No one else has died for your sin.  No one else rose again from the grave in victory over death.  The Father has sent no other Savior.  You can either turn to Jesus in saving faith, or you will eventually pay the penalty for your own sin in the eternal flames of hell.  For the sake of your eternal soul, we urge you to repent and believe in the gospel.

Here is a classic 5-minute video from Dr. R.C. Sproul, who explains it very clearly.  Either Jesus is the only way, or He’s no way at all.
